This is the oath that has been taken by physicians and doctors, through history. It is one of the most well known and widely used known of Greek medical books. In its most form of text, it states that a new doctor or physician is to swear, by a number of healing gods, to uphold a specific set of ethical and moral standards.

This is the guiding principle for all physicians, in whatever procedure or intervention, they participate in on behalf of the patient, they are working with, or treating. This oath was written in it's modern version, in 1964, by Louis Lasagna. He was the Dean of the School of Medicine, at Tufts University.
Do nurses take the Hippocratic Oath? Nurses do not take this oath. The oath is for doctors only. Nurses may take a different oath called the Nightingale Pledge, which is decided on the nursing school, that the student is attending.
Medical ethics what are they? This is a organized set of moral principals that apply to the judgements an values, in relation to the practice of scientific research and clinical medicine. These important values include the respect for non-maleficence, beneficence, justice and autonomy.
