The way that Clementine survived and Lee didn't was, the more that he walked around the longer the bite had a chance to spread the infection and get to the blood.  The bite of Clementine was not as deap as Lee's.  The possiblity that her bite was not as severe as Lee's lead to her surviving.  It is said that it was pure luck of her survival, and that infection was likely to spread.

The race of Clementine was said to be African American, her skin was dark complexion, during the first season.  Season 4 was talked about.
