Powers of Doctor Strange are where he uses his mystical energy that is invoked upon by incantations and spells by the power of beings that can manipulate forces of the universe which includes projection of mystical energy such as binds, shields, bolts, arrays of energy that appear to be electricity and change various energy and matter.
The way he became himself was he was previously a magician and surgeon doctor, and an accident caused him to suffer nerve damage that made him being a surgeon impossible. He then went on a search to find a cure for his illness.
